Blisters On My Gums That Pop

improved style

The theme of the square root Turtle has allowed teachers, parents and people in general interested in the use of ICTs in the classroom know first-hand experiences of challenges / opportunities that are daily in schools and possible solutions.
Today I make no brief exhaustive (there are always other possibilities) on possible approaches to introduce the calculation of the hypotenuse using the tools available in the xo, and by extension the Sugar environment in general.
A first approach would be to use the activity calculator, once explained the theorem will ship a guide to solving type exercises
- In right triangle ABC, if the line AB and line = 10 AC = 20, determine the length BC stroke.

Another approach might be to use the activity browser to search the web for stories that describe how to verify the theorem in the Age .. The experts say there are over 200 1000 ways to show it even with the same explanation he used Pythagoras in his time. This is in context and also allows you to develop other skills such as web browsing, selective review of relevant material, etc. Submit
some reference links may guide a theme Webquest
Wikipedia
geometric triads
A final questionnaire would determine whether the search was efficiently guided questions require investigation following a pre-established route.

One option as spelled out in the mailing list is to use Turtle-11.x activity, which now allows the use of square roots as shown here:

Another option is to use the geometry editor Dr.GeoII, as you can see here .

The person I like most is to use Etoys as Logo. In this option, I will stop for a moment.
Etoys activity has a generic curriculum that option available from the gallery of projects. One such project is to use Etoys as if it were a Logo. For this brings a number of scripts can pre set to start experimenting. You must have basic skills in Etoys to take advantage of this content, I've outlined below:
- Collection and Handling
halos - Performances and script editing
These skills can be developed simply completing the interactive book-tutorial The Devil's Castle and solve at least 4 or 5 levels of Etoys Challenge. Both are available in the Tutorials and Demos section of the initial menu of Etoys.

Localization and personalization of content.

Based on the resource turtlegeometry.pr, I proceeded to edit it for better understanding. First, I changed the name of the object used as a tool, which Vygotsky calls the transitional object. Thus, when we see the properties of our object, it appears something like:
Turtle Moves 100
but something more friendly as advances MiTortuga
100

prepared scripts for "MiTortuga" running respectively
- Clean the screen and re positioning your cursor / Tortuga.
- Draw polygons with n sides. "N" is a numeric value that can be modified. This script uses a parameter passing to another script that is where you draw.
- Draw a square and its hypotenuse. Use the built-in square root fn Etoys

- Draw a square
- Turn cursor / turtle.
Much better than a long explanation here is a video resource in comment .. Warning ... requires Flash player.

For now I'm looking for where it available for download, but if you want to try (or rather replace the x) I can send it by mail.

anyone is encouraged to do something similar in scratch?
